And here comes the curse (or blessing) of early blogging

I'm a giant foodie

I love food. Any food. All food. Especially foreign food. When I'm in another country, I will try everything that is placed in front of me. This makes me about a million times more excited for Morocco, mostly because the food will be amazing.
Yea that's about it.
I'm quite excited for this.

Also, tonight I finally sent in my signed acceptance form as well as the face page of my passport.
Morocco, here I come!

The endless waiting game

Notifications started in mid-March..and are still continuing. So far, all the summer programs have been announced (China, Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, Arabic, Turkey and India) and two year programs have been announced (Russia and India). It's so nice to see everyone happy with their letters and ready to embark on a "life-changing" journey.
Not going to lie, I am jealous that those notifications have gone out. I am beyond ready to know about the status of my application.

This is now the fourth time I've gone through this process, and one would think that by this time, I would have been used to the waiting. But I'm still not. I still check my email at all times, even when it's past 5 pm in Washington, hoping that someone stayed late and decided to send out my notification.

All I can do is wait, and focus on other things.
Insha'allah I'll know by the end of the week. That would be amazing.

The smell of home

I think I will have to do this. Whether I end up at Tufts or across the world in the coming year, I will have to bring some reminders of home. I don’t want to ever forget the smells of home. The smell of pasta that my mother cooks, the smell of the fog in the early morning, or the smell of the ocean as the fog recedes. I know this may seem like a childish thing to do, holding on to the past. But I’ve come to the realization that sometimes doing things that seem childish help people grow. I’m not saying that I will cry every night because I miss home so much, it’s not even about missing home. It’s mostly about remembering the places that have had the largest impact on my life.

Sometimes thoughts are confusing

I know it's been a while, and I've missed this blog quite a bit. My life has been hectic, confusing and rewarding at the same time. I was unaware that I could experience these three emotions in one sitting, but apparently I can.

On February 11th, I received my admission letter to Tufts University. This school was my first choice, and I will be attending Tufts either in the fall of 2013 or in the fall of 2014. In all honesty, I was surprised. I was not expecting to get admitted to Tufts. It was definitely my reach school and being accepted was akin to being accepted to NSLI-Y last year. I'm just very happy.

Right now, I'm still waiting to hear back from NSLI-Y for the Arabic Year program. I would love to get the scholarship, but even if I don't, I know that I have an amazing school to look forward to :)

I have missed this blog

Hello!
I wonder if there is still anyone reading this. If there is, salaam alekum! Kef halick?
I'm currently back in high school, and missing Oman more than ever.
Insha'allah I will hear back about my application to NSLI-Y year sometime in mid December.

I really hope I get it!
Also, here's a wonderful song I recently found, insha'allah you will enjoy it!

Ma Salama!
<3,
Ariel.
